3M Fire Stopping Course online. This is FREE!!!
If you are interested, you can go to the 3M website and register.

You will get a conformation email in a couple days. 24-48 hours is typical.

Once you receive the conformation email you will log in and go to the Course Catalog:
Complete Lessons 1 and 2 if you are an Inside Wireman.
Complete Lessons 1 and 5 if you are an Installer Tech.
You will also go to the last item in building and construction “How to view transcripts and print certificates”. You will email me the certificate for each course, that can be found under activities, click on the certificate symbol to the left of the On Demand Course title,

I know this seems like a lot of info. Just take your time and go through the steps. It took me about an hour to go through the course.

I believe this will need to be completed on your computer not a device.

This will count towards 1 hour of the extra 6 hours needed for Massachusetts.

EXTRA 6 HOURS CLASSES DPL DEFINITION


I received confirmation from the Division of Professional Licensure in Boston. The Professional Development classes (additional 6 hour classes) will no longer be required to be processed through a provider. The DPL is going back to the previous system of randomly auditing MA license holders during the renewal process. The CMR is below. Any questions give me a call.

237 CMR 17.01
(b) Class A and B Licensees engaging in electrical work within Massachusetts shall complete a course of study which shall consist of 15 clock hours of instruction given by Board-approved providers focusing on the then in effect edition of the Massachusetts Electrical Code, 527 CMR 12.00, as adopted by the Board, and other rules, regulations and topics. Class A and B Licensees who reside outside Massachusetts shall complete 15 clock hours focusing on the electrical code then in effect and adopted by the jurisdiction in which they reside. In addition to the 15 clock hours of instruction noted above, six additional hours shall be completed and may be in a areas chosen by the licensee for professional development in the subjects of electrical code, business, law, first aid, safety and building code and related topics. It shall be the licensee’s responsibility to ensure that their provider has been approved by the Board.

This is a list of topics that we teach in the apprentice classes. In recent years we offered JWs, Contractors, and I/T to join apprentice classes and receive free training in the following topics: CPR, NFPA 70E, Fire Alarm, and OSHA 30. This has worked well and I am expanding the course choices so all contributing members and contractors can enjoy free classes and get the most from their JATC contribution. NFPA 70E (2024 Edition) ARC FLASH/FAULT PROTECTION 6 HOUR CLASS:

Today’s standards mean that just having a ticket in your pocket is not enough. Our industry is evolving and we must evolve with it. NFPA 70E Standard for electrical safety in the workplace Training is critical to have and be current on. NFPA 70E training, just like NFPA 70 NEC training must be renewed every three years. If you do not recall, or can’t remember the last time you did this training, please sign up. Our number one job is ensuring ourselves and those around us go home each and every day from work. The following items are just the high points of the course being provided. This will be a 6 hour course and will count as Continuing Ed course.

First Time and Advanced NFPA 70E Training

Review and implement proper use and application of PPE specific to our industry.

Review and implement proper procedures to perform your job as an electrician.

Understanding over-current protective devices and their impact on us.

Review and enforce the most up to date safe work practices that ensure yours, and those around you go home every day.

The JATC will review and may reimburse Journeymen, Installer Techs, and Apprentices for classes that are not offered here. Said courses must be submitted to the JATC office and approved for reimbursement by the JATC prior to the person taking the course. There will be no reimbursements without prior approval from the JATC. Max reimbursement is $200.00 per approved course.

OSHA REPLACEMENT CARD

How do I get a replacement OSHA card?

NEW OSHA STANDARD AS OF APRIL 2011!!!!!

If you lost or misplaced your student course completion card you must contact your trainer for a replacement. Your trainer will have to contact their authorizing training organization for the replacement. The trainer must provide the following information: student name, trainer name, training date, and type of class (10- or 30-hour, Construction, General Industry, Maritime, Disaster Site Worker). REPLACEMENT CARDS WILL NOT BE ISSUED IF THE TRAINING TOOK PLACE MORE THAN FIVE YEARS AGO.

NOTE:

It is recommended that you carry a copy of your OSHA 10 or 30 card in your wallet and keep the original in a safe place.
